My name isAndrew Amos,M0VVA, operating fromGoffs Oak(approximately 23km North of Central London) in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.

I haverecently taken up the hobby gainingmy Foundation license in at the end of March 2016, Intermediate in April and now the Full license (16 May 2016).

I have been interested in electronics and radio since childhood - my fatherG3AGM (now 97years old)tried to teach me the basics when I was in my early-teens, but I'm afraid barely any of his training made sense at the time. Now I am finding that his words areflooding back and I cannot believe I didn't perceverewhen I was younger. Following my father's steps, I am proud to say that both my teenage sons gained their Foundation license in June 2016 and their Intermediate license in January 2017 - it just proves that they are much cleverer than me, God help me in the future!

I am operatingaYaesu FT-991from my home shack on predominantly20m,40m,2m (SSB) and 2m/70cms(FM). For HFI have a Hustler 5-BTV vertical for 80/40/20/17/15/10mand for UHF/VHF I use a Diamond X-200 roof mounted vertical. I have also built a SOTA linked-dipole antenna for 40, 30, and 20m which I expect to work QRP from various locations. A recent addition is the G6ODA 2m Halo which is horizontally polarized and used for SSB where I can typically be found on the 144.210MHz net.

With the recent purchase of the SOTAbeams WSPRlite device I have been operating QQRP on 20m using myloft basedfan dipoles which are resonant from40m-6m(antenna setupwastaken fromthe book "Stealth Antennas" by Steve Nichols G0KYA). I am amazed at the performance of WSPR and have had contacts with 200mW as far as 6900km and on 2mW nearly 2000km away.

For mobile/portable use Ihave a Yaesu FT1XD handheld for VHF/UHF which I operate analogue and digital both simplex and over repeatersand have a standalone SharkRF openSPOT and a DV4mini dongle running from a Raspberry Pi 3. I can be regularly found on reflector FCS000155 whilst both home and abroad.

I am a member and club secretary of Silverthorn Radio Club.

73 and I look forward to meeting you on the air,

Andy
