OA0MP BASE ANTRTICA PERUANA MACHU PICCHU

Desde el 9 de enero al 31 de marzo del 2017 estar activa la estacinOA0MPdesde la base antrtica peruana Machu Picchu durante la expedicin cientfica ANTAR XXIV.

Los operadores sern dos miembros de la expedicin que estarnal aire la estacin duranteel tiempo libre que le dejan sus actividades cientficas en la base. Planean operar principalmente en SSB en las bandas de 20 y 40 metros pudiendo agregarse alguna otra de acuerdo a la posibilidadde instalar otras antenas.

LaQSL de esta activacin es va OA4O y las mismas sern respondidas luego del retorno a Per de los operadores.

Esta activacin cuenta con el auspicio del Radio Club Peruano el cual brinda apoyo logstico y operativo a la misma.

OA0MP MACHU PICCHU PERUVIAN ANTARTIC BASE

From 9th January to 31th March 2017, the call OA0MP will be active from the Machu Picchu Peruvian Antarctic base during the ANTAR XXIV scientific expedition.

The operators will be two members of the expedition who will be on the air during they free time after their scientific activities at the base.They plan to operate mainly in SSB on the 20 and 40 meters bands , some others bands can be added according to the possibility of installing other antennas.

The QSL of this activation is via OA4O, the cards will be delivered after the return of the operators to Peru.

This activation is sponsored by the Peruvian Radio Club which provides logistical and operational support .

Acerca de la base Machu Picchu:

LaBase Machu Picchues una estacin de investigacin cientfica polar establecida en laAntrtidapor elEstado peruano, la misma se ubica en labaha Almirantazgo,ensenada McKellarde laisla Rey Jorge(o isla 25 de Mayo).

La base fu construida en el ao 1989 y su propsito es la realizacin de estudios geogrficos, geolgicos, climatolgicos y biolgicosen esta zona. Su construccin y las sucesivas expediciones ANTAR, le permitieron a Per acceder a la categora de miembro consultivo delTratado Antrtico.

Actividades cientficas y expediciones:

El Per realiza anualmente expediciones cientficas a ese continente desde 1988.

En la base Machu Picchu, se desarrollan diversos proyectos cientficos como las investigaciones sobre elkrily sus posibilidades como alternativa para la alimentacin humana, proyectos geolgicos, biolgicos, hidrogrficos y geofsicos, en el marco del Tratado.

Hace algunos aos se instal un radar MST el que se utiliza para realizar estudios de las capas altas de la atmosfera. Esto proporciona informacin sobre el deterioro de la capa de ozono.

Por ser un continente de invalorable importancia estratgica, ecolgica y econmica, el Per tiene inters en que permanezca como una zona de paz, desmilitarizada y desnuclearizada y que se preserve su ambiente por su relacin con el clima peruano.

Las aguas fras de este continente son fundamentales para el Per, ya que son el origen de la Corriente Humboldt que llega a las costas peruanas permitiendo su diversidad marina y controlando tambin el clima.

About the Machu Picchu Base:

The Base Machu Picchu is a polar scientific research station established in Antarctica by the Peruvian State. It is located in Admiralty Bay, McKellar Cove on King George Island (or 25 de Mayo Island).

The base was built in 1989 and its purpose is to perform geographical, geological, climatological and biological studies in this area. Its construction and the successive ANTAR expeditions allowed Peru to obtain to the category of consultative member of the Antarctic Treaty.

Scientific activities and expeditions:

Peru conducts scientific expeditions to that continent every year since 1988.

At the base of Machu Picchu, various scientific projects such as research on krill and its possibilities as an alternative for human food, geological, biological, hydrographic and geophysical projects are developed under the Treaty.

Some years ago an MST radar was installed and its used to conduct studies of the upper layers of the atmosphere, providing information on the deterioration of the ozone layer.

As a continent of invaluable strategic, ecological and economic importance, Peru has an interest in remaining as an area of peace, demilitarized and denuclearized and preserving its environment because of its relationship with the Peruvian climate. The cold waters of this continent are fundamental for Peru, since they are the origin of the Humboldt Current that reaches to peruvian coasts allowing its marine diversity and also controlling the climate.
