A DXpedition to Swaziland will take place between 30th July and 11th August 2009. This DXpedition was organised as the result of a request for an amateur radio station at the international scout camp located North of Manzini which will run over these dates. There will be a station operating from the camp site with the callsign 3DA0SS. The DXpedition team members will also operate using their individual callsigns from Hawane Resort near to Mbabane. Hawane is located in the mountains of Western Swaziland at over 4,000ft asl. It has been used for DXpeditions on quite a few occasions and is serviced by Danniel Hubbard ZS6JR, of African DX Safaris. There are permanent antennas on site including a 60ft lattice steel tower with HF beams for 20/15/10m and the WARC bands. There is a Four Square array of 40m dipoles suspended from the tower. There will also be a vertical for 80/160m. The team will stay at Hawane Resort and operate from there but will also provide operators for the scout camp station on a daily basis. The camp site is about an hour's drive away.
