Holiday operation in October 2009

QTH: Vilamendhoo Island Resort

QRA: MJ63LP

Operator: Jim Evans, G3VDB

Bands: 14MHz

Modes: CW, PSK31,  SSB, rtty

IC-7000 100W to 20m Ground Plane base at 5m in a tree and 25m from Indian Ocean.

Wintest 4 CW and SSB logging and CW keying; hand key when necessary. Acer Aspire One Netbook with Windows XP.

HRD and DM780 for psk and rtty.

1127 QSOs mostly in 2 or 3 hour slots from 12:00z to 1500z. Outside those hours the signal levels and QSO rates were very low despite the attractive call. Most psk31 qsos were around 02:00 to 04:30z when the band was otherwise dead.

Thanks to all who called and commiserations to those who did not make it into the log. There were many.

I hope to do this again in 2010.
