GS3RCM/P has been used by the club on 28 July 2006, for portable operation on the island of Pladda IOTA EU-123 at lighthouse A4326.

Sheffield Amateur Radio Club has for many years, provided a meeting place and training facility for those interested in Amateur Radio and Short Wave Listening. The Radio Club meets most Mondays at the SYPTE Social Club, Greenhill Main Rd, Sheffield. The Radio Club has been active in the life of the City since the 1920s - both promoting Amateur Radio and providing training for those who wish to take up the hobby. The Club holds the callsign G3RCM (re-issued to the club in 2003) which is used for club-night operation. The club is also affiliated to the RSGB.

The callsign G3RCM was held by the Club in the 1960s and has only been re-issued to the Club in 2003.
