Greetings from Huntsville, Alabama, otherwise known as Rocket City, home of the Saturn V rocket.
I grew up in Oak Ridge, TN where I was first licensed in 1967 as WN4KKA, upgrading in '68 to WB4KKA. I held that call until a few years ago when I applied for one of those rare 1x2 4 calls.
I came here to Huntsville in 1974 and upon graduating from Tenn Tech University (1978) went to work for NASA as an electrical engineer. Now I am retired and getting more time to play with the radio and our two grandkids.
I have served on the hamfest committee for the Huntsville Hamfest since 1985 including the years that we hosted the ARRL National Convention in 1997 and 2009. I keep my station up and ready to go on a moments notice just in case I get a free minute to operate. The equipment includes a set of B-line Drake twins that I got when I was in high school, a Kenwood TS-940, a Ten Tec Orion and a Heathkit SB-201 amp. The very modest antenna farm includes a TH7 at 55 feet and inverted Vees at 50 feet for 80, 40, and 30M.
I'll always owe untold thanks to Bill K4LTA and Mel K4PJ/K4LPW for mentoring me in the ways of contesting from an early age!
Thanks for stopping by and hope to meet you on the air!
73 and may God bless!
