I was originally licensed in 1980 as KA8OKH, when I lived in Akron, Ohio. Previous to that, I was an avid Shortwave listener, as well as a space and satellite enthusiast. Moved to Kentucky in 1982. In 1983 I joined AMSAT, the Amateur Satellite Corp. Although my membership has lapsed a few times over the years, I remain a dedicated follower of the Amateur Satellite program. My membership number was/is 11900.

Throughout the 90's, and into the first couple years of the 21st century, I was an avid contester. Not a plaque winner, but I received my share of certificates for various categories in Ky and the 4th call district. Single-op, low power, experimenting with the SO2R category also. Favorite mode? Cw - the faster the better. These days I'm not as active in contests, but always enjoy hearing about contest setups, and enjoy toying with the software, as well as reading those old dog-eared copies of NCJ. Always up to an invite for some seat time from the big guns. Just give me a few days to work on my rate!

Lately I have rekindled an interest in 160m. Along with the help of my longtime friend Tony, WA4JQS, plans are coming together for the top band antennas that we both always wanted. Hope to be qrv for the 2012 Stew Perry.

Professionally, I am self-employed as a writer, as well as a tech support specialist for the Lodging industry. I also run a small electronic repair facility.

I can be found on both FacebookandTwitter.

N8UX is located on approximately 50 acres at 1150 ft. elevation.

I maintain a few popular web pages, including the Icom 765 ceramic capacitor replacement page, The Vibroplex J-36 Project page, and a few others. Enjoy...R
