5H     - Maurizio, IK2GZU will be  active  again  as  5H3MB  from  Ilembula,
         Tanzania from 7 April to 8 May, while doing volunteer work for  the
         local mission. QSL via IK2GZU and LoTW. Log  search  and  OQRS  for
         bureau and direct cards at www.buffoli-pm.it
7X     - 7T50ARA and 7T9A are two special callsigns to be used from 1  March
         to 30 May to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ARA (Amateurs  Radio
         Algeriens),  Algeria's  IARU  member  society.  QSL  via    7X2ARA.
         Information on the relevant award can be found on qrz.com.
9X     - Nick, G3RWF will operate  (neither  160  nor  6m)  mainly  CW  from
         Rwanda on 4-13  March.  He  will  collect  his  license  (hopefully
         9X0NH) upon arrival. QSL via home call and LoTW.
A3     - Werner, A35WH is still  active  from  Tongatapu  (OC-049)  until  2
         March. His planned side trip to Vava'u (OC-064) [425DXN  1133]  has
         been cancelled due to problems with local  flights.  QSL  via  home
         call (DJ9KH), direct or bureau.
EU     - Special callsign EV50WB will be in use on 1-31 March  to  celebrate
         the 50th anniversary of Radioclub Dalnye Strany (EW1WB)  of  Minsk,
         Belarus. QSL via EU1AZ (SSB and CW QSOs)  and  EU1DX  (RTTY  QSOs),

G      - G3VFC, M0KJA, M0RFD, M0VFC, M6KOM, M6VFC and 2E1EVK will be  active
         as GX5MW/p from the Isle of Wight (EU-120) on 16-23 March. QSL  via

H4     - Announced  frequencies  for  the  8-25  March  H44G  expedition  to

         March, including an entry in the RSGB  Commonwealth  Contest  (9-10

J7     - Rick, KK4GV will be active holiday style  as  J79GV  from  Dominica
         (NA-101) on 8-17 March. He will operate  SSB  only.  QSL  via  home
         call, direct or bureau, and LoTW.
KH0    - Sam, JE1XUZ (KH0XH) and Tama, JQ2WTT (KH0XW) will  be  active  from
         Saipan (OC-086) from 10 March to  1  April.  QSL  via  home  calls,
         direct or bureau. They will  participate  in  the  CQ  WW  WPX  SSB
         Contest from the AH0BT contest station. [TNX NG3K]
KP2    - Matt, K0BBC is active as KP2/K0BBC from will  be  active  from  St.
         Thomas, Virgin Islands (NA-106) until 5 March, including  an  entry
         in the ARRL DX SSB Contest. QSL via home call. [TNX K0BBC]
KP2    - Look  for  KP2/JS6RRR  (QSL  via  home  call),  KP2/K2JA  (QSL  via
         JL3SIK), KP2/KI3DNN (QSL via JI3DNN),  KP2/W3JH  (QSL  via  JR3QFB)
         and WP2KY (QSL via JR3QFB) to be active  from  the  Virgin  Islands
         (NA-106) on 13-19 March. They plan to be QRV on 160-6  metres  SSB,

OZ     - Look for Harry, OZ/PA1H and Nico, OZ/PA7PA to be active from  Laeso
         Island (EU-088) on 13-26 April. They will operate SSB  and  digital
         modes on 80-10 metres, if possible  also  on  160m.  QSL  via  home

PA     - Dirk, DL5DCL  will  be  active  holiday  style  as  PA/DL5DCL  from
         Ameland Island (EU-038) on 1-6 April. He will operate CW  only  "on
         several HF bands". QSL via home call, direct  or  bureau  (OQRS  on

PJ2    - Mike  W1USN,  Bob  AA1M and  Scott   W1SSR  will  be active as PJ2/
         from Curacao (SA-099) on 8-22 March. They will operate SSB, CW, PSK
         and RTTY  on  160-10  metres. QSL via home calls, direct or bureau.

S2     - Vadym, UT6UD will be active as S21XV from Bangladesh on 1-7  March.
         He plans to operate on all bands with a  focus  on  North  America.

SU     - A team from the Egyptian  Radio  Amateur  Society  for  Development
         including SU1AO, SU1AR, SU1SK and SU3YM  will  be  active  as  SU8N
         from Jazirat Disuqi (Nelson's Island, AF-109: new one for IOTA)  on
         3-10 May. [TNX SU1SK]
TK     - Vincent F4BKV, Gil F4FET, Christian EA3NT and  Laurent  TK4LS  will
         be active from three Corsican IOTA groups as follows:
         23 March   TK0INT   EU-100
         24 March   TK1INT   EU-104
         25 March   TK1INT   EU-104
         26 March   TK0INT   EU-100
         27 March   TK2INT   EU-164
         28 March   TK2INT   EU-164
         They will operate SSB and CW with three stations on 40, 30, 20  17,
         15 and  10 metres, using  vertical  GPs  and vertical  dipoles. QRV
         time from all of the three groups will be 8-18 UTC, as they are not
         permitted to overnight on the islands. These are  protected  areas,
         and from EU-100 they will  have  to  use  car  batteries.  QSL  via

UA     - Vladimir, RV3EFH will be active as RV3EFH/0 from  Bolshevik  Island
         (AS-042) between March and October. He will  operate  CW,  SSB  and
         digital modes on 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres. QSL via home call.  [TNX

VE     - David, VE3AAQ will be active as VO2AAA from Zone 2 on  7-10  March,
         including an entry  in  the  RSGB  Commonwealth  Contest.  QSL  via

VK9C   - Chris, GM3WOJ and Keith, GM4YXI will be active as VK9CZ  (replacing
         VK9C/GM2MP) from the Cocos-Keeling Islands (OC-003) from  30  March
         to 13 April [425DXN 1133].  A  website  is  under  construction  at
         www.vk9cz.com. [TNX GM3WOJ]
VP5    - Urb, W1UL and his wife Patricia, W2PKV will be active  as  VP5/W1UL
         (mainly  CW)  and  VP5/W2PKV  (mainly  SSB)   from    Provideciales
         (NA-002), Turks and Caicos on 7-13 March. QSL for  both  via  W1UL.

YB     - Imam, YB4IR and others will be active  as  YB6N  from  Nias  Island
         (OC-161) on 7-13 March. QSL  via  YB4IR  (he  requires  that  cards
         reach him before 31 August 2013).
YB     - Look for YB3MM/6, YB6AR/p, YC6EI/p and YF1AR/6 to  be  active  from
         Rondo Island (OC-245) on 9-17 March. They might be using a  special

YB     - John YB5NOF, Anton YB5QZ and other three operators will  be  active
         as YE8B from the Banggai Islands (OC-208) from 26 April to  2  May.
         Plans are to be QRV on 80-10 metres CW, SSB and RTTY.  Shu,  JN6RZM
         (jn6rzm[@]nifty.com)  is  collecting  donations  by  Paypal.   [TNX

ARRL DX CONTEST (SSB) ---> Object of the contest is  for  W/VE  amateurs  to
work as many stations in as many DXCC entities as possible on 160,  80,  40,
20, 15, and 10 metre bands, while DX stations work as many W/VE stations  in
as many of the 48 contiguous states and provinces as  possible  (full  rules
can be found at www.arrl.org/arrl-dx). This year's event will run from  from
00.00 UTC 2 March through 23.59 UTC on the 3rd. Do  not  forget  to  give  a
look at the  Announced  Operations  listing  maintained  by  Bill,  NG3K  at
www.ng3k.com/Misc/adxs2013.html

DXCC NEWS ---> 4S7DXG (Sri Lanka, only operations  in  2008  and  2011)  and
8Q7VR (Maldives, only operations in 2008 and 2011) have  been  approved  for
DXCC credit. If you had credit rejected for contacts with dates  during  the
periods noted, contact dxccrules[@]arrl.org to be put on  the  list  for  an
update. Contacts before or after these periods cannot be accepted. Also,  in
order to expedite the search for these QSOs please include  the  application
"date received" or "reference number" noted  on  your  credit  slip  of  the
submission these were originally rejected. [TNX NC1L]

QSL GALLERY ---> The large collection of QSL cards  on  Les  Nouvelles  DX's
web site has been updated. Fourteen different galleries  include  more  than
10,600 cards for the  ten  Most  Wanted  DXCC  Entities  (2004-12),  the  61
deleted DXCC Entities, obsolete prefixes, stations from  Magrebh  from  1945
to 1962, Allied Forces stations in  Germany  (1946-69),  Antarctic  bases  &
TAAF (Terres Australes and  Antarctiques  Francaises),  the  various  French
DXCC island Entities  in  the  Pacific  Ocean,  the  Indian  Ocean  and  the
Americas (from 1945 to 1970), pre-1945  countries,  French  Departments  and
CONUS, plus a gallery for cards not accepted by DXCC. Your participation  is

RSGB COMMONWEALTH CONTEST ---> The 76th edition of the  Commonwealth  (BERU)
Contest (www.beru.org.uk) will be held on 9-10 March,  from  10  UTC  to  10
UTC, on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres CW. Only operators located  within  the
Commonwealth or British Mandated Territories are eligible to enter.

TX5K ---> The TX5K team arrived at Clipperton at 04.30 UTC on  27  February,
were able to land on the 28th and expected to set  up  radios  on  1  March.
Follow the updates posted by KY6R at http://ky6r.com/. The preferred  method
to use for QSLling is the OQRS provided by Club Log for  either  direct  and
bureau cards. Traditional requests go via N2OO (Bob Schenck, P.O.  Box  345,
Tuckerton NJ 08087-0345, USA). The log will be uploaded to LoTW "within  six
months after the end of the DXpedition".

+ SILENT KEYS + RSGB Life Vice President John  Patrick  Hawker,  MBE  (G3VA)
passed away on 21 February at 90 years of age. In addition  to  writing  the
"Technical Topics" column in the Radio Society of  Great  Britain's  journal
for fifty years (1958-2008), he also authored various books  on  electronics
and radio and television engineering. In 2006 he was inducted  into  the  CQ
Amateur Radio Hall of Fame and made a Member of the  Order  of  the  British
Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for "Services to Radio Communications".
Other recently reported Silent Keys include Valery  N.  Metaxa  (ER1DA)  and
Pavel V. Presnov (RU3UA).
