RSGB IOTA WEBSITE BREACH ---> At 04:48 UTC on 27 September, an automatic
bot gained access to the IOTA website database and was able to exploit a
bug in the IOTA code in order to reset the password for every user on the
site. This is why you might not have been able to log into the site. There
is no sign in the system logs that any data was read or that personal data
was compromised. Once the IT team was aware of the issue, they immediately
took the database offline for analysis and corrected the bug. User
passwords are stored in a hashed format in the database, not in plain text.
In accordance with best practice, however, we'd like to encourage all users
of the IOTA website to change their passwords. Additionally, if you have
used your IOTA password on other websites, you should change the passwords
on those other sites also. If you have any further questions or concerns,
please contact iota.online[@]rsgb.org.uk. [TNX G3KMA]

S79C ---> In a little over six weeks from now, the S79C team will be on air
from Coetivy Island (AF-119, new one for IOTA) [425DXN 1270]. "Planning and
logistics are now complete", and the team's aim is "to work all corners of
the globe using a combination of verticals and hexbeams placed near the
waters edge". The timeframe (16-23 November) has been chosen "to maximise
propagation paths to all geographical areas". Even though "all groups and
organisations contacted from this area have refused our funding requests",
S79C will focus on working West Coast North America during peak propagation
times, as they realize that "even regular S7 is still much needed" in this
area. Donations are still gratefully accepted, and advance donors will be
rewarded with a free QSL. See http://af119new.com for information and
follow the team on Twitter (@af119). [TNX EI9FBB]
