3X      - Michael, PA5M is  now working  for the  UN World  Food Programme  in
          Guinea until early June. He will operate as 3XY5M on 160-6 metres in
          his spare time, using 100  watts and wire  antennas. QSL via  PA7FM,
          direct (do not forget that 1 USD no longer covers return postage) or

BY      - Look for BD1DRJ/2, BG2QMP/2 and BG2RHY/2 to be active from Changxing
          Island (AS-151) on 11-13 May. They plan to operate CW and SSB on 10,
          15, 20 and 40 metres. QSL via home calls. [TNX The Daily DX]
G       - The Cray Valley Radio Society will be active as GB4VLX on 12-13  May
          in memory of Deryck  Buckley, G3VLX (also  F0RV, PA9TO, 9H3AM),  who
          became a silent  key in  April. Two  stations will  be active  using
          Deryck's equipment  on 10-80  metres. Special  QSL via  G4DFI.  [TNX

GM      - Drew, GM3YOR  will operate  CW only  (anche  when time  permits)  as
          GM3YOR/P from the Isle  of Islay, Inner  Hebrides (EU-008) on  19-26
          May. [TNX GM3YOR]
HL      - Special event station HL7WR will be active until 2 July to celebrate
          the 2007 World Rafting Championship which will held in  Sangdong-Ri,
          Inje, South Korea from 27 June  to 2 July  (http://www.2007wrc.com).

I       - Look for IW8FFG/p to operate from  Portici lighthouse (WAIL  CA-015,
          ARLHS ITA-276) on 13 May, starting around 6.30 UTC on 40 metres SSB.

I       - Michele/IZ4GWE,  Luigi/IZ4FTE,  Davide/IK4UNH  and  Paolo/I4EWH  and
          others will be active  as II4SDP from  Scanno di Piallazza  (EU-155,
          IIA FE-001) on 18-20 May. They plan to operate SSB and CW on 40, 20,
          15, 10 and 6 metres. QSL via IZ4GWE. [TNX IZ4GWE]
PA      - Special callsign  PA25UKSMG  will  be  aired  from  The  Netherlands
          between 19 May and 3 June  to celebrate the 25th anniversary of  the
          UK Six Metre Group (http://www.uksmg.org/). Expect activity on 160-2
          metres, including an  entry in the  CQ WW  WPX CW  Contest. QSL  via
          PA7FM (logs will be available at http://www.pa7fm.nl). Several other
          special callsigns  are expected  to be  used from  other  countries,
          especially during the UKSMG 6 Metre Contest during the first weekend

SP      - Another special event station celebrating  the 750th anniversary  of
          Krakow's city rights [425DXN 831] is HF750C (QSL via SP9BRP),  which
          will be active from 14 May to 30 June. Expect also a large number of
          local operators  to use  special prefix  SN0 during  the year.  [TNX

SV      - Special  event  station  SX2SB  will  be  active  on  19-20  May  in
          remembrance of  those who  fought the  Battle of  Skra in  May  1918
          during World War I. Expect activity on all bands CW, SSB, PSK31  and
          RTTY. QSL via either SV7CUD or SV1EOS, direct or bureau.
YB      - Hans, PA0HOP will be active from Bali Island (OC-022) as YB9AQW  and
          YB9/PA0HOP between 15 May and 20 June. He will operate RTTY, BPSK31,
          FeldHell and OLIVIA (16 tones -  500 Hz) only. QSL via PA0HOP  (this
          applies also to  contacts made with  YB9AQW during  this time  frame

AFD COMMUNICATIONS TEST ---> Celebrating the 57th anniversary of Armed Forces
Day (AFD), the US Army, Air  Force, Navy, Marine Corps,  and Coast Guard  are
co-sponsoring the annual  military/amateur radio communications  tests to  be
conducted on 12 May. The annual celebration features traditional military  to
amateur cross band communications SSB voice  tests and copying the  Secretary
of Defense  message via  digital  modes. Full  information  can be  found  at

EUROPEAN CASTLES DAY ---> The sixth edition of the European Castles Day  will
take place on 20 May between 6 and  16 UTC. Several stations are expected  to
operate from  fortresses  and  castles  in  France,  Belgium,  Italy,  Spain,
Portugal, United Kingdom  and Switzerland. Information  on the  event can  be

FX4SIX ---> Thanks  to Claude/F5GTW, this  French 6m beacon  is QRV again  on
50315 kHz. It is located west of Poitiers (JN06cq), and it runs 25 watts into
a 5 element yagi pointed to east. Reports cand be sent to F5GTW. [TNX F5NQL]

MMAA CW CONTEST ---> The Manchester Mineira All America CW Contest, organized
by the Grupo Juizforano de CW, will take place from 15 UTC on 19 May  through
23.59   UTC   on   the   20th.   Full    information   can   be   found    at

QSL AP2TN ---> As of 1 May 2007, the new QSL route is via DJ9ZB. If you  sent

QSL 8Q7AK ---> Andrew, G7COD reports that all QSLs received for his last  two
activities from the  Maldives (October 2006  and January/February 2007)  have
now been posted direct if sufficient postage had been included. If not,  they
have been sent via the bureau. All QSLs received via the bureau will also  be
returned the  same  way. Andrew  will  be back  to  the Maldives  in  October
(details expected in due course).

reports, "shortly  after  operating the  7  QSO party  with  his  wife  Elsie
(N7YX)". Born in 1932, "Hil  was originally from  Estonia, immigrated to  the
USA after WW2, and became a very successful engineer in the defense business,
and a real estate entrepreneur. He  made many operations from DX places  like
Marshall Islands, Ascension Island, and he was found active in many  contests
over the years. He was a DXer, contester and IOTA activator".
