3A     - Ghis, ON5NT will be active as 3A/ON5NT from Monaco on 23-27 January.
         He plans to  operate mainly during  his morning  and evening  hours.

3Y0    - Petrus, 3Y0E made a couple of contacts with ZS and PY stations on 30
         December. He is trying a  new strategy to  get Bouvet into  pileups:
         until further notice 3Y0E will call  CQ on 14200 kHz between 16  and
         17.30 UTC. Petrus will  work simplex until  he gets more  acquainted

6W     - Jacques, F6HMJ  will be  active as  6W/F6HMJ  from Senegal  on  8-29

9A     - Special  event  station  9A35RKP  will  be  active  during  2008  to
         celebrate the 35th anniversary of Croatian  radio club "Pazin".  QSL
         via 9A7P.
DL     - Special station DR8M will be active  until 31 December to  celebrate
         the 850th  anniversary of  the city  of Munich.  Information on  the

FJ     - Yuichi, JR2KDN and Paul, F6EXV will  be active from the newest  DXCC
         Entity, Saint-Barthelemy (NA-146) on 6-20 January. With the help and
         support of FJ5DX,  FJ5AB and FJ5KH,  they will operate  SSB, CW  and
         RTTY as TO5FJ 10-160 metres. QSL via F6EXV. Further information  and

FO_mar - The main targets for  the 9-22 January  operation [425DXN 867]  from
         Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands (OC-027) are the low bands, Europe  and
         the US  East Coast.  The  Finnish team  (Jouko/OH1RX,  Pertti/OH2PM,
         Veijo/OH6KN and Juha/OH8NC)  is aiming at  logging 20-30k QSOs,  the
         40% on 1.8-10  MHz and the  30% with Europe.  They will  have up  to
         three stations running from two different locations on the following
         suggested frequencies:
         CW   1822 3523 7023 10108 14008 18068 21008 24898 28008
         SSB  1845 3790 7050   -   14195 18145 21295 24945 28495
         RTTY  -    -    -     -   14080   -   21080 28080   -
         The pilot station will be Martti, OH2BH (msg-60@oh2bh.fi).

HI     - Simone, IZ5JNQ says he will be active from Santo Domingo,  Dominican
         Republic on 8-26 January. He plans to operate SSB and digital  modes
         on 10, 15 and 20 metres. QSL via EB7DX.
HS     - Simon Luttrell has been living permanently  in Thailand since  2002.
         He has held  a British licence  (G6JFY) for more  than twenty  years
         and, having just received his  Thai licence (HS0ZIB),  he is in  the
         process of setting up a permanent HF station at his hotel on  Phuket
         Island (AS-053). [TNX HS0ZIB]
J2     - Mala, F4FMI  will  operate as  J20MB  from Djibouti  through  March.
         Expect activity on 20, 17 et 15  metres SSB QSL via home call.  [TNX

VP6D   - The final countdown for the VP6DX Ducie Island team (DL3DXX, DL6FBL,
         DL6LAU, DL8LAS, ES5TV,  K3NA, N5IA, RA3AUU,  SP3DOI, SP5XVY,  SV1JG,
         UA3AB and WA6CDR) has started.
         The team  expects to  reach the  island at  the local  sunrise on  9
         February and to be QRV not earlier than the local night on the 11th.
         They  plan  to  set  up  seven  stations  on  two  widely  separated
         locations, with one 26m-tall vertical for 160m, five 4-Squares  (80,
         40 and 30m), five vertical dipole  arrays (20, 17,  15, 12 and  10m)
         and one 5-element Yagi for 6m.  Actual QRT time will be dictated  by
         weather and sea forecasts; if conditions  are good, operations  will
         end on 28 February.
         QSL via  DL6LAU,  direct only  (Carsten  Esch, Drosselweg  3,  21376
         Salzhausen, Germany).  Bureau card  requests will  be accepted  only
         through the Online QSL Request System, which can be used for  direct
         cards as well (see www.vp6dx.com for  full information on  QSLling).
         All of the remaining  QSOs will be  confirmed automatically via  the
         bureau after 8-12 months.
         "This is really quite a major serious expedition with a huge  amount
         of hardware intended  to make working  'everyone' possible",  DL6LAU
         says. "We are  doing all this  to make  a standout  presence on  the
         lowbands in particular, and all the  bands in general. We are  going
         to a major amount of  effort to make  simultaneous operation in  the
         same band not only functional, but darn near perfect". Donations are

CARIBBEAN TRIP  ---> Gregg,  W6IZT  will be  active  as PJ7/W6IZT  from  Sint
Maarten (NA-105) on 6-8 and 11-13 January  (QSL via AI4U) and from the  FJ5KH
club station on St. Barthelemy (NA-146) on 9-11 January (QSL via the  qrz.com

DXCC NEWS ---> DXCC Manager Bill  Moore, NC1L reports that the the  following

EUCW 160M CONTEST  ---> The Union   Francaise   des Telegraphistes (UFT,  the
French EUCW society) sponsors the annual European CW 160 Meter Contest, which
will be held  on 5 January (20-23 UTC) and on 6 January (4-7 UTC). Rules  can
be found  at  http://www.uft.net, where  it  also possible  to  download  the

IOTA BASH ---> The fourth annual IOTA Bash will be held on 14-15 March at the
QTH of AD5A, Mike Crownover in  Boerne, Texas. The agenda is being  finalized
and will include presentations on  some of the  most recent IOTA  expeditions
and a nice social programme. Details  will be available  on the IREF  website

LOGS ---> Tony, XE1GRR reports that  the logs for the November-December  2007
activities from Socorro and Clarion, Revilla Gigedo Islands (6E4LM, XF4YK and

TOP LISTS  ---> The  latest Topband,  Topmode and  Toplist listings  are  now

QSL GALLERY ---> The large collection  of QSL cards (more  than 4900) on  Les
Nouvelles DX's web  site has been  updated. Ten  different galleries  include
cards for the  ten Most  Wanted DXCC  Entities (160+  QSLs), each  of the  58
deleted DXCC entities (700+ QSLs), obsolete  prefixes (1900+ QSLs),  stations
from Magrebh from  1945 to 1962  (200+ QSLs), Antarctic  bases (600+ QSLs)  &
TAAF (Terres Australes  and Antarctiques Francaises,  230 QSLs), the  various
rare French DXCC island Entities (100+ QSLs), pre-1945 countries (250+ QSLs),

QSL VIA RN3DK ---> Alexander says the new QSL cards for R3K, RS0ISS and NA1SS
are expected  from  the printer  in  late January.  Direct  requests  without

QSL VIA  VK4FW  ---> Bill  Horner,  VK4FW says  that  "all  QSLing  has  been
postponed till further notice for all  calls I manage", as  he expects to  be

+ SILENT KEYS + Ad van Tilborg, PA0ADT passed away on 23 December at 64 years
of age. He was the PACC Contest Manager for years. The PACC will continue  in
his memory -  this year's event  will take place  on 9-10 February  (complete
