9A     - Special event station 9A09P will be active through the end  of  the
         year to celebrate the city of Djurdjevac. A  special  QSL  will  be
         issued and all of the QSOs will be confirmed automatically via  the
         bureau. [TNX 9A2JK]
9H     - Valentin, DL5GA will be active as  9H3GA  from  Malta  (EU-023)  on
         17-24 March. He will operate holiday style on  the  HF  bands.  QSL
         via home call. [TNX DL5GA]
C9     - Cal/WF5W,  Paul/W5PF,   Madison/W5MJ,   Bill/K5WAF,  Dale/KG5U  and
         Jim/N4AL will be active on 160-10  metres  as  C91TX  from  Bilene,
         Mozambique from 25 March to  5  April.  They  plan  to  have  three
         stations (one for CW, one for SSB and one for digital  modes)  with
         amplifiers, log periodics,  a  4-square  for  40m  and  possibly  a
         4-square for 80m, and a vertical for 160, 80  and  30m.  They  will
         also participate in the CQ  WW  WPX  SSB  Contest.  QSL  via  W5PF,

E5     - Tim, NL8F will be active as E51COF from Rarotonga  (OC-013),  South
         Cook Islands from 21 March to 4 April. He plans to operate  SSB  on
         10, 15, 20, 40,  80  and  maybe  17  metres.  QSl  via  K8NA.  [TNX

GI     - The Foyle & District ARC will be active as GB5SPD  on  14-17  March
         to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. QSL via MN0AKU, direct  or  bureau.

KH4    - After a seven-year hiatus, in late January 2009  the  U.S.  Fish  &
         Wildlife  Service  announced  that  they  would  once  again  allow
         amateur radio operations from Midway Atoll  (OC-030)  "on  a  trial
         basis" [425DXN 926]. A multi national team of 19 operators will  be
         active as K4M from Midway for ten days between 5  and  19  October.
         They will have 5-6 stations active on 160-6 metres, with  at  least
         one  station  on  20m  around  the  clock.  Further    information,
         including details on how contribute to this  expensive  expedition,

OY     - Lars, OZ1FJB will be active as OY/OZ1FJB  from  the  Faroe  Islands
         (EU-018) from 16 March to 1 April. He will be QRV during his  spare
         time, indicatively on 21-24 UTC  and  6-7  UTC,  and  will  operate
         mainly CW with some SSB. He has also been permitted to  operate  on
         60 metres, look for him on 5403.5 khz USB. QSL via home call.  [TNX

S2     - Upon arrival in Dhaka, just in the middle of a  civil  unrest,  the
         Korea DX Club's team found out that the previously  issued  licence
         (S21KD) had been revoked. They were  able  to  get  a  new  licence
         (S21ZCY) on 8 March, but they could not  retrieve  the  radio  gear
         that had been confiscated at the airport. On 10  March,  while  the
         local situation was deteriorating, they surrendered  and  cancelled
         the operation, as "safety is the first priority". Their website  is

TK     - Dragan/9A2SX,  Igor/9A3AXX,  Hrle/9A6XX  and  Marko/9A8MM  will  be
         active as TK/homecall from Corsica (EU-014) on  18-22  March.  They
         will operate on 160-10 metres and will participate in  the  Russian
         DX Contest (21-22 March,  http://www.rdxc.org/)as  TK7P.  QSLs  via
         9A8MM (all of the QSOs will  be  confirmed  automatically  via  the

V6     - Yoshi, JJ8DEN is currently active as V63PR from  Pohnpei  (OC-010),
         Micronesia until 19 March. On 20-24 March he will  be  active  from
         the Chuuk Islands (OC-011). He expects  to  operate  CW,  RTTY  and
         PSK31 on 160-10 metres. QSL via home call.
VE     - VC3Y is a special callsign for the 50th  anniversary  of  the  York
         Region  Amateur  Radio  Club  (http://yrarc.com/yrarc/).  The  club
         hopes to have it on the air as much as possible until 31 March.  On
         21-22  March  it  will  be  used  by   Doug/VE3CWO,    Neil/VE3SST,
         Igor/VE3ZF, Valdas/VE3VO  and  Brent/VE3IRT  to  activate  Bluffers
         Park Island (CISA new) and lighthouse. QSL via  VE3CWO,  direct  or

VP5    - Art, N4PJ and Marsha, K4IRI will be  active  as  VP5/N4PJ  (CW  and
         RTTY) and  VP5/K4IRI  (SSB)  from  Providenciales,  Caicos  Islands
         (NA-002) on 17-24 March. They will participate in  the  Russian  DX
         Contest as VQ5B. QSL via home calls. [TNX The Daily DX]
XE     - Bernardo, XE2HWB will be  active  as  XE2HWB/XF1  from  Isla  Santa
         Margarita (NA-078) on 21-23 March, possibly starting around 22  UTC
         on the 21st. He will operate SSB only,  using    a  battery  and  a
         small generator to run 100 watts  to  a  vertical  antenna  on  the
         beach. He expects to concentrate on  20  metres  (+/-  14260  kHz);
         other frequencies to look for  him  on  are  28560,  28460,  24950,
         21260, 18128, 7055 and 7155 kHz. QSL via N6AWD (direct only).  [TNX

ALGARVE AWARDS ---> The Algarve S.T.A.R. DX Team  sponsors  two  awards  for
working stations operating from islands and lighthouses  of  the  Portuguese
Algarve region. Detailed information on the Diploma  das  Ilhas  do  Algarve
(Algarve Islands Award) and the Diploma dos Farois  e  Farolins  do  Algarve

DXCC NEWS ---> The recent  K5D  operation  from  Desecheo  Island  has  been

RSGB COMMONWEALTH CONTEST ---> The 71st edition of the  Commonwealth  (BERU)
Contest (http://www.beru.org.uk/) will be held on 14-15 March, from  10  UTC
to 10 UTC, on 80, 40, 20, 15  and  10  metres  CW.  Please  note  that  only
operators located within the Commonwealth or  British  Mandated  Territories
are eligible to enter: "callers outside the Commonwealth call areas  can  be
a serious problem in this contest", Alan Jubb (5B4AHJ/P3J) says,  so  please
check the list at  http://www.vhfcc.org/hfcc/information/codes.shtml  before
calling.

+ SILENT KEYS + Gianni Vincis, IS0VSG passed away on  9  March.  A  keen  DX
enthusiast, in recent years he  was  the  pilot  station  for  6O0N  (2006),
J20MM/J20RR (2007) and 9L1X (2008).  Other  recently  reported  Silent  Keys
include Cuban veteran Mario  Chacon  (CO8CH),  Marcel  Trobrillant  (FM5CH),
Giuseppe Matinelli (I7JFQ), Charles H.  Watters  (W4RHE),  John  M.  Ziegler
(W6ZZZ) and Tony Loftus (VE3FRK).
